postcards from my homeland

The Canadian liberal government has fallen to a vote of no confidence. Same-sex marriage, legalization of pot, disapproval of and resistance to the Iraqi war (Bush Jr. and Canadian PM Paul Martin are not what you would call ‘close’) — all those happy leanings that made certain Americans want to relocate north of the border after the last presidential election — are now endangered. Canadians will elect a new parliament near the end of January, and despite the (well-deserved) reputation us Canucks have for being such a nice folk, methinks this campaign will be nasty, nasty, nasty.
