last insomniac scribble of the night

Seems there’s been some kind of screw-up with Borders. It seems to have to do with the fact that a catalogue confused my book with another book of the same title by the same publisher (although different imprint). The other book — a vampire YA novel by Amanda Marrone — even had the same release date for a while. Also seems to do with the fact that my publisher’s Borders sales rep left the company and there was some kind of interim which opened a crack into which my book tumbled. At least that’s what they’re telling me. My editor — who really has been lovely to deal with ever since I first met her — assures my agent that they are “on top of it” and so I’m curious to see what “on top of it” looks like. My first book had a high sell-through rate, my second book is with a popular imprint in a popular genre, so for Borders to shun me so completely doesn’t make sense to me. Not yet, anyway. I mean, geez, at least give a girl a chance to flame out in the most hideous way possible before you refuse to stock her books…

In the meantime, if you’re looking for UNINVITED, please proceed directly to your nearest Barnes & Noble. I know they have it. I am feeling warmth and affection for Barnes & Noble.
